||| FROM LOUISE DUSTRUDE |||

I have lived in Friday Harbor for over half my life, and some of the changes I’ve seen during that time have really enhanced my life, as well as the lives of many others.

Two that first come to mind are the Conservation Land Bank and its sister affordable housing fund, both supported by REETs (real estate excise taxes) one percent for the Land Bank and 1/2 percent for affordable housing. Both of these are taxes paid by the buyers of real estate here. They are One-Time-Only taxes. You can live here for 50 years, as I have, and never pay the tax again, unless you buy more property. Such a bargain for everyone!

The proposition will be on the Nov. 5th ballot. Please vote yes.
