I am writing this letter of recommendation in support of Rick Hughes as a highly qualified candidate for San Juan County Council, Position #2.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Rick for the last 12 years and serviced 8 years as a Ferry Advisor Committee member while he was on the county council.  I have witnessed first hand his dedication and passion for our county and public service.

Rick Hughes possesses a unique combination of intelligence, integrity, and leadership skills that make him an idea candidate for Position # 2, County council.  I have seen him work tirelessly to address the needs of our county, always putting the interests of the community above his own.  While working with him on the Ferry Advisory Committee, (FAC), he attended our local meeting, attended ferry meetings in Seattle and testified in Olympia on behalf of San Juan County ferry issues.  He was a voice to be heard, and a STRONG advocate of ferry issues in our county.  His ability to listen to diverse perspective and collaborate with others to find solutions to complex issues is truly commendable.

In addition to his impressive work ethic, Rick has a strong understanding of county issues and a clear vision for the future of San Juan County.  He is well-versed in understanding the county needs and is especially knowledgable in understanding Washington State Ferry issues. He has a proven track record of advocating for policies that benefit all members of our community.  His commitment to transparency and accountability sets him apart as a candidate who will always act in the best interest of the public.

I have no doubt that Rick Hughes will always be a dedicated and effective leader if elected to County Council, Position # 2.  His passion for public service, coupled with his strong moral compass, make him a standout candidate in this election.  I wholeheartedly endorse Rick Hughes and urge you to support his candidacy.
