Please join the Orcas Island Garden Club on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 when we welcome Eliza Habegger to present Creative Rewilding with Native Plants. Eliza Habegger is talking about the creative use of native plants in home gardens. Learn about converting lawn to wildflower habitat, growing natives on a green/living roof, and using native pollinator plants in the vegetable garden.
Eliza Habegger
Eliza Habegger holds a B.A. in Biology/Botany from Cornell University. She joined the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank in 2003. She was previously employed by The Nature Conservancy and the New York Botanical Garden. Her current responsibilities as Land Steward include ecological assessment, monitoring, and restoration on Land Bank Preserves, and managing the Salish Seeds Project native plant nursery. Salish Seeds is a joint project of the Land Bank and San Juan Preservation Trust. With family roots on Waldron Island, Eliza lives with her husband and son on San Juan Island, where she tends an ever-expanding garden and orchard, messes around with art, and builds sheds.
The presentation begins at 10 am at the Orcas Center and will be followed by social time. The presentation will also be available via zoom.
