Sunday, November 11, 3 p.m., Sea View Theatre
— from Carol Kulminski —
The Orcas Island Historical Museums will present “Sacred Journeys,” an afternoon of film and information on tribal journeys by canoe. It features a presentation by Sharon Kinley, Director of the Coast Salish Institute at Northwest Indian College, and a showing of the film called “Glwa: Resurgence of the Ocean Going Canoe.”
This is an important fundraiser that supports capacity building at Orcas Island Historical Museums for cross cultural events and also the upcoming “Sacred Journeys” traveling exhibit on ancient canoe culture and today’s canoe resurgence.
Your $25 ticket ($20 for museum members) includes a variety of appetizers, the film and discussion. The concession and lounge at Sea View will also be open, but is not included in the ticket price. You can get tickets at the Historical Museum, online at orcasmuseums.org, or by calling 360-376-4849. Tickets are also available at the door.
