||| FROM U.S. REP. RICK LARSEN |||
This week, I have been traveling around Northwest Washington state to talk to local health care providers and food banks about how Republicans’ Big Ugly Law will impact our friends and neighbors.
At Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho, the Big Ugly Law will cause a 30% loss in revenue. This jeopardizes access to cancer screenings, birth control and reproductive health care for thousands of people. The Big Ugly Law is a back door abortion ban.
PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham expects to see more people without health insurance coming to the emergency room for health care because of the Big Ugly Law. The legislation makes the largest cut to Medicaid in history, which will take health care away from 328,000 people in Washington state.
At the Everett Food Bank, staff are expecting to see longer lines and less food because of the Big Ugly Law. Republicans are cutting the federal food assistance program by 20%, the largest cut in history.
The rollout of the Big Ugly Law will take place over the next few years. I will fight to reverse these cuts in Congress, alongside House Democrats.
If you live in the Second District and need assistance with a federal agency, please contact my Everett District office at 425–252–3188 or visit my website, https://larsen.house.gov/.
