The Preserve Steward is responsible for all aspects of managing Land Bank Preserves on Orcas Island. There are currently 12 Preserves totaling over 2,100 acres with eight open to the public.

Working with a Field Assistant, persons in this position: regularly engage and educate members of the public regarding Preserve rules, regulations and policies, providing a safe and enjoyable experience; oversee site development and enhancement projects including hiring and managing contractors/crews, planning, permitting, collaboration with other agencies; supervise volunteers who assist in many aspects of Preserve management; maintain records of activities, reports, contracts, grants, communications and documents, and; assist with land and conservation easement acquisition, budgeting, planning, management plans, outreach and other department projects.

As a public employee, this position will adhere to the highest standard of ethics in accordance with RCW 42.52.
