Kyle Freeman, currently principal intern at Bainbridge Island Elementary School, has been selected for  the position of Orcas Island Elementary and Middle School Principal, District Superintendent Barbara Kline announced today. Freeman, who has accepted the position, will also assume administrative duties for the Orcas Island School District’s (OISD)  food and transportation departments.

Freeman’s wife is an elementary school teacher, and the couple have two young sons.

Kline said in her report to the District Board, “The process of selection was long and tiring but also hugely successful.  We were fortunate to have a very wonderful collection of parents and staff on the committee either to interview or to paper screen or both.   We were also fortunate to meet many fine candidates so that the selection was difficult, which is a good thing.

“Kyle has been on the island arranging for moving to the island.  He has met a number of the staff and is very excited about the prospect of being the elementary and middle school principal.”
