Friday, May 3 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Orcas Elementary School
— from Maureen Moran | Orcas Island Elementary School —
For families looking to enroll their child in Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year at the Orcas Island Elementary School, we are holding a registration event in the school library on Friday, May 3, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet the staff, ask questions and complete a registration packet on-site.
Please note, immunization records are required before school begins. We are asking that families schedule an appointment in advance by emailing Maureen Moran, OIES Office Manager, directly – mmoran@orcas.k12.wa.us, or calling the elementary school office 360-376-2286, Ext. 2.
Following this event, we welcome parents to participate in another opportunity for their child to ride the big yellow school bus from their preschool location to our school for a tour. This takes place on Wednesday, May 8 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Note: If your child does not attend preschool, but will be entering Kindergarten this fall, he or she can catch the bus at Kaleidoscope on North Beach Road. Please contact Erin at the Resource Center if you have any questions – 360-3184 or erin@orcascrc.org.
All children entering kindergarten in September (and their parents) are invited to a Kindergarten Transition Banquet on Thursday, May 16 with a catered dinner served at 5:30 and 6:00 p.m., at the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish Hall, followed by kindergarten activity centers. Upon completion of each activity center, children will be presented with a backpack full of fun educational tools similar to those used in the activity centers. Free childcare and dinner will be provided at Kaleidoscope for siblings. RSVP required. Please sign-up at your child’s school or contact Erin at the Resource Center – 360-376-3184 or erin@orcascrc.org.
