A  Scavenger Hunt on Indian Island will be the scene on Tuesday, morning, July 21, as  children ages 6-12 explore the beach surrounding the island.

San Juan Nature Institute and Orcas Island Recreation Program will collaborate to offer the Scavenger Hunt around Indian Island.

The fun will begin shortly before 10 .m. at Waterfront Park, off Main Street in Eastsound, and go until noon as kids explore the beach and rocks with a challenge sheet to guide their discoveries. Hand lenses and mini aquarium tanks will be available to scrutinize the marine samples.

Participants should wear suitable clothing, including appropriate shoes for wading and walking on uneven rock surfaces. .Call the Orcas Island Recreation Program to register (376-5339) or go online at www.orcasrec.org. Meet at Waterfront Park shortly before 10:00.

The cost is $15 (adults accompanying their children are free or by donation).
