Saturday, April 26, 7 to 11 a.m. at Cascade Lake, Moran State Park
— from Michel Vekved —
This year marks the 18th annual Bill Yarlott fishing derby. Kids are encouraged to come out and fish from Cascade lake and then bring their catch into the Day Use Shelter for measurement by 11 am! Last year the longest fish was almost 19 inches.
Phillip Miller will have hot coffee and pancakes for everyone. Donations are appreciated. Funds are dedicated to the Moran Creek Kokanee Hatchery and live interpretive exhibit at the Summit Learning Center. We encourage you to take a moment and check out the interpretive poster designed by Hayden Simpson and KayLani Siplin. It’s located near the hatchery and provides a great illustration of the kokanee lifecycle here in Moran Creek and Cascade Lake.
Prizes are awarded to all kids fishing. Our special thanks to Orcas Outfitters and Kings Marine for donating the fishing derby prizes!
Hope to see you at the lake early Saturday morning!!
