Saturday, April 28, 7 a.m., Cascade Lake

— from Fiona Stone for Orcas Adventures —

The Annual Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby is open to children 15 and younger. It is a free event and starts at 7am on Cascade Lake April 28. Children under 14 do not need a fishing license. Fish must be caught by the child and bought in for weigh-in at the Cascade Shelter by 11 a.m. sharp. Children must handle their own fish.

Bill Yarlott, an 87-year old fishing enthusiast who was instrumental in stocking Cascade Lake with Kokanee Salmon and Rainbow trout, passed away in 2015. Thanks to his efforts, and that of this amazing community (and businesses like Orcas Outfitters, Island Market, and Kings Market) we have been able to continue his legacy through the Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby.

A free pancake breakfast is provided at 10 a.m. This is an independent fishing event (we do not provide fishing gear and/or boats). Please dress warmly.

Visit www.orcasadventures.com/derby for additional information. Admission is free.
