Won’t you come hear us sing? on Thursday, May 28 at the School Gym

More than 150 Orcas music students will take us back to our early music studies when they present “The Music Class” on Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Orcas Public School’s Old Gym. The school’s youngest students have prepared a concert of songs about what they are learning in music class. Songs about musical theory and Italian musical terms will be part of the program. So, dust off your musical memory bank and enjoy while the kids take you on an expedition of crescendo and decrescendo, presto, largo, quarter notes, and rests, among other musical topics.

A feature of the program will be a performance by the Beginning Strings students. These budding string players are the Orcas middle school and high school string players of the future. And this is your chance to see them at the launching point of their musical journey.

“Our kindergarten through 4th grade students have been working very hard,” said Pamela Wright, Music Director. “Please come see what they have accomplished.”

This is the second concert by Orcas School musicians this spring. The third and final concert of the school year will be the High School Strings and Band Concert at Orcas Center on Thursday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m. All school concerts are free and the community is invited.
