||| FROM EMMA HELVERSON for WILD FISH CONSERVANCY|||

Wild Fish Conservancy, The Conservation Angler, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife filed a consent decree last week to settle claims in an Endangered Species Act lawsuit over lower Columbia River hatcheries and their impact on threatened wild salmon, steelhead, and endangered Southern Resident killer whales.
Below I’ve shared a link to a statement from WFC and TCA commenting on the agreement and favorable outcome for at-risk salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River.
We will continue to pursue claims against the other defendants in the case– NOAA Fisheries, Oregon’s Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Clatsop County. Please reach out with any questions and thank you for your attention to this important salmon recovery issue.
