||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
Do you love to sing? If only in the shower? Come, sing with others and enjoy a whole new level of fun. Orcas Choral Society kicks off its spring 2024 term 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 30 in the Orcas Center’s Madrona Room. If you love singing with other people or just want to try it, now’s your chance.
Following up on its highly successful performances of Handel’s Messiah this past December, this May, OCS will sing a concert of works by contemporary English composer John Rutter, ranging from Rutter’s Requiem to his arrangement of the antiwar spiritual, “Down by the Riverside.”
“We are doing a concert by a very successful and honored LIVING composer, as opposed to the more traditional ‘old dead guy,’” noted OCS Artistic Director Bruce Langford. “It’s gorgeous music, full of shadows and light. You’ll love it.”
“This is not a rehearsal, but a chance to listen to our spring concert music, get a feeling for what we’ll be learning, and to meet and just hang out with each other,” said OCS Membership Chair Faith Heath. “We have several new members signed up for spring. I hope more will join us. It’s going to be a great concert!”
If you’re interested, either let Faith know at faithnjohn@gmail.com or just show up, Tuesday, January 30, at 7 p.m. in the Orcas Center Madrona Room.
Happy singing!
