Jeffri Coleman and MIchael Rivkin of Crow Valley Pottery

The Orcas Island Garden Club is pleased to present Jeffri Coleman and Michael Rivkin of Crow Valley Pottery at its April 18 meeting.

Their subject will be “Gardens: Art and Form.”  As their many customers already know, these two excel in the area of garden decoration at their “Cabin” on Orcas Road and the Crow Valley Pottery shop in town.  Jeffri is an artist and potter respected for his fresh and inventive works.  Michael still does all of the carving, and has become a master at tile and mosaic.

Jeffri and Michael have created a beautiful garden at their historic homestead featuring ornamental shrubs and perennials, including many unusual plants imported from Europe.  Whimsical garden art is found throughout the property.  This garden was featured on the Garden Club’s ‘Garden Tour’ last year.

Jeffri and Michael also anchor an exciting gallery unmatched in the islands for its breadth of artists.  They feature renditions of as many as 80 artists in woodcuts, engraving, pottery, yardart, metalwork, sculpture, jewelry, art glass, watercolors, oils and pastels, and Asian antiques.  The shop’s Summer Show Series have become Island events in their own right.  This year’s event will showcase several artists’ creations of critters to adorn the gardenscapes.  Varied inspirations from the homestead gardens to the town shop will contribute to the program we will enjoy.

The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the Madrona Room of Orcas Center on Wednesday April 18.  Everyone is invited to attend.  This meeting will be pure pleasure.
