The Saturday Ikebana Class at Emmanuel’s Old Parish Hall will begin its new season April 30th and continue twice a month throughout spring, summer and early fall.  Beginners are welcome, and no previous experience is necessary.  Cost is $15 per session.  The class is taught by Joan D. Stamm, the author of Heaven and Earth are Flowers: Reflections on Ikebana and Buddhism, Wisdom Publications (2010).

Students bring their own plant/flower material and clippers.  Joan provides flower holders, water containers and extra flowers if needed.  Class starts at 2:00 PM with a short talk, demonstration and centering meditation; then students practice their own arrangement while Joan gives individual instruction.   Tea and sweets are served informally.  The class finishes by 4:00.

Joan has studied ikebana in Japan and Seattle and holds Shihan (authorization to teach) from the Saga School of Ikebana located in Kyoto.  For pre-registration, e-mail Joan at jstamm@seanet.com, phone 376-1035, or visit her web site at www.JoanDStamm.com,
