Almost five years to the day since COVID shut down the US-Canadian border, Tamra Hansen stands inside her Saltwater Café in Point Roberts worried about the future again.
“I fear these are going to be worse times than the pandemic,” said Hansen, who successfully navigated the turbulent months after the spring of 2020, kept the café open, and even opened another restaurant in this unusual American exclave.
But now, Hansen told KOMO News “I’m down 55% in February.” It is part of the reason you can see the bumper sticker on her door that she’s also selling inside noting that “Point Roberts supports Canada.”
