While on tour with the rock band Being As An Ocean, Islander Anthony Ghazel was among more than a dozen people who escaped a burning tour bus Tuesday morning south of downtown St. Louis.
The bands Being As An Ocean and Hundredth were on their way from Kansas City to Nashville when their bus caught fire
The musicians smelled smoke as they were awakened around 3 or 4 o’clock by their guitarist telling everyone to get out, that there was a fire.
No injuries were reported. They lost laptops, passports, money, and jewelry and escaped with no shirts and no shoes. Their instruments were stored in a trailer that was hauled by the bus and were untouched by the flames.
The bands’ management company arranged for them to stay in a hotel in St. Louis on Tuesday. They are on the Vans Warped Tour and were supposed to play Tuesday afternoon at the Tennessee State Fair.
“It’s just stuff,” said Yves Mathieu-East, a crew member for Being As An Ocean. “Not one person has a burn mark or a scratch. I’m just happy that we’re all okay.”
Ghazel tweeted, “The support this morning has been overwhelming. Art is indestructible; it’s gonna take wayyyy more than this to bum me out.”

Thank you, Lin for, reporting on this event. Our son Anthony and his band mates are doing well and as you said, no one was hurt. We are counting out blessings. The band will continue their tour.
Wow. So glad to learn that you, your son and others are ok!
