I have been doing battle with the VA to try to get care for a veteran friend of mine. Yesterday I learned from a specialist at the Puget Sound Community Care that the VA has taken Island Hospital off its new list of Authorized Providers. Veterans can at this time go to the UW Orcas clinic through the VA’s Community Care program . Does anybody know what will happen to their access to local care once Island Hospital takes over from the UW? If Island Hospital is no longer in the VA’s network, how can the Orcas clinic be? Will veterans be covered there, or will they have to go off-island to see doctors again?
I hope that this issue will be addressed before the transition. I hope that someone at the February 18 web meeting will let us know.
