— from Dottie Cornelius —
Pink Flamingos have arrived on Orcas Island. Yards across town will soon be flocked with these fun “glamingos.”
The Island Girls, a team of eight women who are walking 60 miles over three days in September in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day in Seattle are raising money and awareness for breast cancer education, support, and research. These glamorized flamingos will be assisting our team in raising $20,000 for the Komen 3-Day.
Here’s how it works: Whoever finds a flock in their yard can make a donation and provide the name and address of their next destination, then call to have them removed. The team will then move the flock to your specified location keeping the fun going till we reach our goal of $20,000. If you would like to purchase flocking insurance, you can make a donation by clicking HERE and the Island Girls will make sure the beautiful birds do not land in your yard.
As we fundraise and train for the Susan G. Komen 3-day in Seattle, we would welcome the opportunity to share our personal stories about why we walk and talk about the flamingos. Please let us know if you are interested in talking with a member of our team and keep an eye out for the flamingos around town.
