This girl gives me hope for the future of the country. Thank you.
I agree, this was the highlight of a day full of highlights! The most perfect day I’ve had in many years. Is there a transcript to this gal’s wonderful poem? I would be interested in saving it.

Amanda Gorman – my new wonderful hero. I wrote this the day after Trump was elected. Such a dark time.
whisked away
like a warm breeze
stirring brittle rows of wheat in the fields
of our heritage
our common hopes and dreams
our shared life song
which is not much different
from anysong
from anyland
from anypeoples
share
sharing
shared
I wrote this during Trump’s horrific tenure:
a nation slowly healing
that stank miasma reeling
if not for lack of feeling
if not for love of nation then
please tell us how and why and when
that dark cloud hovers over them
their frightening list compendium
must wilt before keen acumen
