Deadline call for artists and innovators
— from San Juan Makers Guild —
The Orcas Chapter of the San Juan Makers Guild is working on building a local economy for our creative and ingenious local makers. On March 28, the Guild is hosting a Spring Makers Fair at the Orcas Center, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. All creative industries are invited to showcase their work and to join in building an initiative that fosters a year round economy of local Makers. Maker products for local sales, and for export to regional markets, are eligible for inclusion.

A county-wide San Juan Makers Expo might be in order next year, with (depending on your attitude) off-island advertising of the event On-Island dollars are hard-earned and quickly spent on off-Island goods and services. This might be an opportunity to help even the balance sheet.
So excited to see you are bringing your deep commitment to community-based food and makers to Orcas. Sometimes seeding these conversations and building the connections takes time. May this event bring forth great creativity and enhance our islanders’ resourcefulness.
