— from Mandy Troxel —
Friday, July 3rd is your one and only chance to catch Mandy Troxel and the Bitter Ends on Orcas this Summer! The band will be playing at the Random Howse from 7 to 9 pm. There is no cover charge, but as always, tips are much appreciated.
The Bitter Ends are: Mandy Troxel, guitar and vocals, Anita Orne, bass, banjo, saw and guitar; Bruce Harvie, guitar, mandolin and vocals and John Polstra, pedal steel. Special thanks to honorary Bitter Ender Gordon Koenig who steps in on bass as needed.
The band originally formed while working on Mandy’s solo album “If Only Words Could Keep Me Warm” (available at Darvill’s). Their repertoire has grown to include many Country Western standards from the likes of Patsy Cline, Buck Owens, Lucinda Williams, and Johnny Cash, while still featuring a number of originals. Mandy’s music has gained accolades from musicians around the country, including Americana troubadour Bill Mallonee, who writes “with a folky voice of clarity that reminds one of early Emmylou Harris, Troxel navigates the waters of love lost and found with songs that offer memorable lines, but no easy answers.”
The Random Howse will be starting a new season of culinary delights via tapas and a full bar. So, dust off your dancing boots and come ready to be entertained!
