A show unlike any other is gracing the Orcas Center stage
||| FROM COLLEEN SMITH SUMMERS for ORCAS CENTER |||
INDIVISIBLE is an original multimedia dance experience about divisions in our culture. The show is running for the first two weekends in May.
Created and performed by the very best of Orcas Island and Orcas Dance Collective, and directed by Jake Perrine, this tech-forward exploration will move your heart, mind, and body. Performance dates are May 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9 at 7 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m. on Center Stage.
The human brain is evolutionarily wired to rapidly categorize people into “in-groups” (us) and “out-groups” (them) to promote survival, often within 170 milliseconds. This automatic, subconscious process involves the amygdala (fear/threat detection) and prefrontal cortex, leading to in-group favoritism and potential hostility toward outsiders, especially under social stress or cognitive load. And yet humans are genetically more than 99% the same. We are, by definition, INDIVISIBLE.
Tiered tickets are $70, $40, $25, ($10 Student/Senior/Veteran), and available at www.orcascenter.org. Coming on closing night, May 9? Consider joining us for dinner beforehand at our Spring Gala featuring the food of Avery Adams from Matia.
