The Orcas Island Historical Museum is starting its own Book Club!
The first meeting is on Tuesday, November 18 at 3 p.m. in the Museum Office and all are welcome to join the group! Maggie Vinson, Museum Office Manager, is very excited about the books that have already made the list — some of which are out-of-print but will be made available to the Book Club. Book Club members will be reading a number of books that pertain to both our local and regional history. During the first meeting the first title will be chosen.
If this interests you, please send your ideas, titles, availability, comments, etc. to info@orcasmuseum.org or call 376-4849.

Would love to know what books will be on the list. Even if one couldn’t go to the reading group, the books might be very enjoyable and informative. Perhaps in another press release?
Agree with Patty’s comment, and would like to add that Northwest regional books could be included on the list, such as Annie Dillard’s Whatcom, maybe someof Betty MacDobnald’s lesser-known ones. Also, there mgiht be an email component? That way those of us who couldn’t make a meeting might be able to send a paragraph or to to the convenor in advance of the meeting?
All interested should try to come to this first meeting, as they/we will pick what book to read first.
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions and support! I am so happy to see the great response that the Book Club. If any of you would like information on the books that are on the list or would like to sign up please feel free to email me at info@orcasmuseum.org. We will be adding a Book Club section to the website this week.
