The Orcas Island Historical Museum will kick off the summer season with an Season Opening Party, Friday May 27th, 4-6pm. Live music, finger food, refreshments and a few surprises will be offered, with festivities taking place both indoors and outdoors if weather permits.
Come see the first public showing of the Museum’s beautifully cast replica of their ancient Bison Antiquus skull, as well as an exhibit showcasing the heyday of Orcas Resorts circa 1920’s through 1950’s, and some charmingly illustrated excerpts from islander’s oral histories done by Nancy Knapp’s 4th/5th grade class.
If you ordered an engraved brick last year for the new entrance walkway, the bricks are now installed and you’ll be able to see your words immortalized. During the party admission to the Museum will be free to all (it’s always free to members) so this is a great opportunity to bring friends and family to see what YOUR museum has to offer. For more information, or if you would like to volunteer in any capacity please call the Museum at 376-4849 or visit their website at www.orcasmuseum.org.
