— from Maggie Vinson —

Ever wonder who holds the title of “The Grand Old Lady of Orcas Island” and why? Or what the real story behind the discovery of the Ayer Pond bison antiquus is?

Join us for our monthly History Matinee at the Eastsound Fire Hall on Sunday, June 21st at 3 PM to see Braeden Smith’s senior project documentary film of this landmark scientific discovery and learn from Lesley Ferrell about her senior project on Washington State’s first woman physician, Dr. Agnes B. Harrison. Smith interned at the museum his entire senior year and conducted personal interviews of the scientists who challenged the status quo with their findings on our ancient bison.

Ferrell’s creatively fabricated project is our latest permanent exhibit at the museum and a worthy memorial to Dr. Harrison’s legacy. You’ll not want to miss an afternoon with Agnes and Antiquus.
