— from Anne Presson for Orcas Island Health Care District —

The next phase of the Orcas Island Health Care District (OIHCD) Medical Clinic Operator Request for Proposal (RFP) is a Special Board Meeting/Community Conversation with the leadership of Island Hospital. This is the chance for the new CEO and his team to engage directly with YOU.

In addition to reviewing the basics of their response to the RFP, Island Hospital will address the questions we have been capturing from the community. Topics will include their lessons learned from the past and how they envision a new future, their approach to an integrated clinic, community collaboration and engagement, and after-hours coverage/collaboration with EMS.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 30. Please visit the Calendar tab on the OIHCD website for details on how to access the meeting via Zoom.

Questions and comments can also be submitted to the District Superintendent, Anne Presson, in advance of the meeting. Superintendent Presson can be contacted by email, annep@orcashealth.org, or via cell/text at 415-999-5611.

Following this meeting, the next phase of the RFP process will be for the OIHCD to decide whether to enter into negotiations and pursue a contract with Island Hospital. That discussion will take place at the OIHCD Regular Board meeting on August 4.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to get informed about our health care options and have your questions answered.
