Cancer Support Group barbecue to celebrate two years serving the community  at 5 p.m. outside the Fireside Room of the Orcas Island Community Church. The event is open to all who have attended at any time in the past two years whether as a cancer patient, a survivor, or a family member or friend of someone stricken with cancer. Friends (Unprogrammed Quakers) “Listening in Tongues, ” 30 minutes of Quaker-style dialogue following  30 minutes of silence. Afterwards,  an hour of tea and conversation with visiting Friend-in-Residence Benigno Sanchez-Eppler of New England Yearly Meeting of Friends. The term “Listening in Tongues” has  been part of a conversation about creating rapport between Friends with radically different beliefs, such as Christocentric and nontheistic Friends.
