1631 is a vibrant example of unions and environmentalists working together on solutions to one of our most critical and time-sensitive challenges. For a JUST TRANSITION off fossil fuels to clean air, water and renewable energy and energy efficiency that takes everyone’s needs into account! There’s been nothing like it, and WHEN we pass it in November, it will serve as a helpful example for every other state and for the country. Is it perfect? No.
No one will be completely satisfied with a policy put together painstakingly over four years by over 180 groups. Is it a good starting place? YES!! I know not everyone agrees with this, but I’ve been pushing for a Just Transition for 20 years, starting in 1998 as a member of the international Trade Union delegation to the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development. And I’m ready to get going! For people, our planet, our wildlife, and the next generations, vote YES! on 1631 this November!
HELP!
Friends, I could really use some help making phone calls, sending emails and/or doing some doorbelling to encourage people to vote YES on 1631. Please get in touch with me at sharmuse@gmail.com or (360) 376-5773 if you can put in even a couple of hours – it would help a lot!!

Yes, Sharon! Thank you!
We’re filled with contradictions and imperfections but “honesty” about this can begin to negate the damage we cause—hence, “let not perfection be the enemy of the good.” That sentiment has been echoed from all corners through the ages. We’ve been wise for millennia; it’s time that “critical mass” gets us up and over our “less than best” selves— for our own good!
Voltaire: “The best is the enemy of the good.” Confucius: “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.” Shakespeare: “Striving to better, oft we mar what’s well.”
So, yes, lets do what we can, wherever we can. I’ll email you, as should others, for a campaign to pass this legislation.
Again, thank you!
