Saturday, July 26, Noon, Stage on the Green

— by David Turnoy —

Mike1-218x300Mike Lapointe, independent candidate for Rick Larsen’s seat in Congress, will be in Eastsound this coming Saturday, July 26. Mike opposes the coal terminal and coal trains, and he would fight against the quality of life-ruining Navy growler jet flights over San Juan and Lopez. As detailed in previous articles, Mike is a representative of the 99% of us who don’t have deep pockets to buy candidates, and if elected, his seat would be the people’s seat.

Regardless of your political affiliation, don’t send in your primary ballot until you have come to hear Mike at noon this Saturday on the stage at the Village Green during Farmers Market. For those who consider themselves Democrats and who are registered to vote in San Juan County, come to the endorsement meeting of the San Juan County Democrats immediately following Mike’s presentation at 1:00 at the same location to weigh in on whom you would like the San Juan County Democrats to endorse in the upcoming primary. Your votes will be added to votes by Democrats at similar meetings on Lopez and San Juan, and the totals will determine whom we will endorse. This is democracy in action, so please be a part of it.
