The Orcas Island Community Foundation’s annual Grant program is off to a great start! Over $80,000 has been contributed to this year’s opportunities, thanks to donations from so many community members. Almost all of the proposals have received partial funding and 8 have been fully funded. Fantastic support for our community!
This year’s Grants Committee, a team of both OICF Trustees and community members, vetted and approved 29 proposals. There are many great opportunities still open for funding. They include programs to feed both youth and seniors, increasing arts and sciences in the schools, securing the Orcas Island Historical Museum, teaching families to farm, and strengthening the social safety net through Orcas Family Connection, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Services, and by providing a counselor at the public school—all worthy and wonderful ways to sustain and improve our community.
Our hope is for every community member to review and consider a contribution to one of these opportunities. Every donation, from $10 to $10,000, makes a difference. By working together, we are all contributing to the wellbeing of our community. Contributions can be made online at www.giveorcas.org, or directly at the Community Foundation, 141 Prune Alley, Suite 201, or mailed to PO Box 1496, Eastsound, WA 98245.
When we give where we live, we all win.
