||| FROM DARRELL KIRK for GATHERING OF THE EAGLES|||

Orcas Island residents gathered at the Odd Fellows Hall in East Sound on Friday for an auction to support the Fifth Annual Gathering of the Eagles Potlatch canoe journey that will take place May 17-26. Attendees enjoyed a feast of grilled salmon, Dungeness crab, clams, and fresh produce while bidding on tribal art pieces.  The auction and dinner was hosted by The Friends of the San Juans.

Lane hopes to attract people of all ages to learn about Lummi culture and history on Orcas Island, noting that East Sound and Mitchell Bay in Roche Harbor were once important Lummi villages.

Canoes are slated to arrive on Orcas Island on May 21, 2025, landing at Olga at 3:00 p.m., with a potluck dinner at 5:00 p.m. For more information contact: Phreddielane@gmail.com.
