Free Household Hazardous Waste Pick-up: Saturday, September 26
||| from Orcas Recycling Services
Time to clean out under the sink and in the garage: Orcas Recycling Services and San Juan County Public Works will host a Household Hazardous Waste collection event at the Orcas Transfer Station on Saturday September 26th, from 10 am to 2 pm. The event is free to all Orcas households (not businesses).
This is the once per-year event when we CAN accept old or contaminated fuels, including gasoline, kerosene and diesel.
As always acrylic and latex paint will NOT be accepted for free at this event. Latex paint is recyclable, and ORS accepts latex and acrylic paints year-round for a small recycling fee. Learn more about paint recycling here.
For more detail on what is and is not acceptable, please visit the Hazardous Waste page on the ORS/Exchange Website here.
Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange is a community-driven 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to: “Build a zero-waste community through service, education, and stewardship of our waste/resource stream.”
Orcas Recycling Services/The Exchange has been in operation since 1984, managing the Orcas Island Transfer Station since September 2013, and operating a new Exchange reuse store since November 2017.
