Galaxy of Burlesque Revue comes to Orcas on Friday, Dec. 2

Orcas Center, Brothers Lovejoy, The Outlook Inn and The Kitchen have teamed up to bring a very special show to the Orcas Center on Friday December 2nd. The Galaxy Of Burlesque Revue features the cutting edge of today’s national burlesque scene and stars The Atomic Bombshells, Miss Indigo Blue, Lily Verlaine and Dance Belt.

These artists have been pushing the boundaries and redefining what burlesque means and winning awards and accolades in the process. The Galaxy Of Burlesque Revue, at Orcas Center December 2nd, 7:30 p.m. Drinks & Bites and Show at 8pm sharp!  Tickets are $22 and the show is  suitable for ages 18+.

The Atomic Bombshells, Seattle’s polished and perfectly-choreographed, professional Burlesque troupe, present a show that celebrates the feminine form with good humor and classic style. In Seattle, The Atomic Bombshells were the first troupe to bring burlesque to the historic Triple Door Theater. Most recently the Bombshells have spread their “gospel of glitter” overseas, performing sold-out events in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Shanghai.

Armed with an astounding amount of talent, these phenomenal beauties pull out all the stops and pump out a show of sheer splendor where every inch of skin is cherished. (Seattle Weekly)

Miss Indigo Blue is the 2011 Burlesque Hall of Fame’s “Reigning Queen of Burlesque” For the last fifteen years, this “neo-burlesque” entertainer has titillated crowds across the world with her tassel-twirling techniques and smart, sexy, and funny skits. Miss Indigo is known for her hilarious surprises, erotic dance skills, authentic 1930’s-1960’s costuming, and naughty reduxes of popular characters like Holly Golightly, Carmen Miranda and Wonder Woman. Miss Indigo starred in the documentary film “A Wink And A Smile” about her Academy of Burlesque in Seattle and is one of the most sought after burlesque performers in the nation.

Lily Verlaine is a classical ballet dancer and a graduate of The University of Minnesota in the major of Women in the Creative Arts which combined Creative Writing, Studio Art and Feminist Theory. As a burlesque performer, Miss Verlaine has shared stages with Dita Von Teese and other distinguished ladies of burlesque. As a choreographer, Miss Verlaine has set work upon many Seattle notables. Miss Verlaine is also the co-producer and Artistic Director of the smash hits “Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker” and “Through the Looking Glass: the Burlesque Alice in Wonderland.”

Lily is a master of her art form … she looked absolutely in control of her body, smile, and indeed those of every single person, male and female, in the audience. (Examiner.com)

Dance Belt celebrates iconic dance pop-culture through tribute performances, dance education and participatory workshops. Embracing the art of appropriation, this electric trio blurs music video, social dance, cabaret performance, YouTube culture and gender. Dance Belt’s troupe members have extensive professional experience that includes performing for Cyndi Lauper, and dancing in the opening credits of True Blood (HBO).They are accomplished teachers, having worked with students at Cornish College of The Arts, American University, Rutgers, and NYU. Dance Belt features the performance stylings of Waxie Moon, Inga Ingenue and Lou Henry Hoover.

7:30pm Drinks & Bites – The Kitchen will be creating delicious bites along with a slightly expanded bar menu to make the pre-show and intermission into a tasty cabaret style experience. Charlie’s menu will include: Local Oysters on the half shell, Toasted Rose’s rye bread canapés, and Salmon salad filled gruyere cheese puffs and red bell pepper chips.
