Friday, August 19, 7:30 – 10 p.m., Random Howse
— from Melody Funk —
FunkSway featuring Bruce Harvie, Melody Funk, Lek Thixton, and Randy Jezierski will be performing at Random Howse, August 19, 7:30 to 10 p.m., playing a variety of R&B, rock, with a little bit of country thrown in the mix and even an occasional jazz tune. Dust off those dancing shoes and join the fun.
Bruce Harvie exemplifies perfection playing guitar and mandolin plus vocals, with a musical freedom that always brings a delight, and adds a rich flavor to any performance.
Melody Funk, on bass and vocals, is a solid player with a great voice that lends itself to any style. She started her island life in 1975 as Rosario’s house band, Sail, and came back to the island in 2013 after performing on cruise ships for 10 years.
Lek Thixton has an original guitar style that bends traditional playing to the extreme. Whether he is playing the blues or ripping through an up-tempo solo, he’s sure to send chills up your spine.
Randy Jezierski from Dustbunny and Orcatraz fame is a solid drummer with a contagious smile that lights up the room and touches your heart.
Randy and Melody keep the rhythmic pulse in check allowing Bruce and Lek to play off each other, trading licks in a musical frolic that makes you want to dance the night away.
Melody’s favorite quote when playing with Bruce, Lek, and Randy: “I’m a giant musical goosebump from the first note to the last!”
