The Orcas Community Resource Center invites community members to attend a free workshop, “Smart Money Strategies for Seniors,” on Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:00 PM at the Orcas Senior Center. This informative session is designed to help seniors feel confident and informed about their financial future. Whether attendees are looking to stretch their budget, protect their assets, or discover benefits they may not know they have, this workshop provides practical guidance in a welcoming, accessible environment.

Workshop Topics Include:

Estate Planning for Seniors – Participants will learn estate planning essentials, including wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, and beneficiary designations. The session emphasizes how thoughtful planning today can bring peace of mind and stability to families down the road.

Avoiding Fraud, Scams, and Protecting Your Finances – Attendees will discover how to recognize the most common scams targeting older adults, simple ways to protect personal information, and how to spot red flags before harm occurs. The workshop will also cover steps to take if fraud or identity theft is suspected and where to turn for trusted help and reporting.

“Financial security is a cornerstone of healthy aging,” said Erin O’Dell, Resource Center Executive Director. “We’re committed to providing our community’s seniors with the knowledge and tools they need to protect themselves and plan confidently for the future.”
