Four young musicians who performed in Martin Lund’s One World Show in mid-June at Orcas Center departed on June 23 with the North Stars Chamber Orchestra for a 12-day concert tour in Finland, homeland of composer Jean Sibelius.

Orcas Island’s Lisa Carter, pianist, Paris Wilson and Emy Carter, violinists, and Mt. Vernon’s Tate Cohan — pianist, oboist and vocalist — all performed in One World.

All four are part of a 20-person youth ensemble from the Bellingham-to-Seattle area, led by Sharyn Peterson of the Peterson Conservatory of Music and Arts in Mt. Vernon. Peterson also leads the Mt. Baker and Fidalgo Youth Symphonies.

Lisa and Emy Carter have just completed their sophomore years at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Paris Wilson has just completed her sophomore year at Orcas Island High School, and Tate Cohan is a graduating senior at Mt. Vernon High School.
