forest field day schedule— from San Juan Islands Conservation District and WSU Extension–

San Juan Islands Conservation District, San Juan County, and Washington State University Extension present Forest Owners Field Day on Saturday, Sept. 26. Participants will build skills for caring for their trees in the event at YMCA Camp Orkila on Orcas Island.

Field Day Sponsored by Madrona Institute and San Juans County Conservation District

Field Day Sponsored by San Juan County, WSU Extension and San Juan Islands Conservation District. The event features exhibits and hourly workshops on maintaining healthy trees, native plant ID, protecting homes from wildfire, battling invasive brush, logging demonstrations, and more.

The cost to attend (including lunch) is $20 per person or $35 per couple before September 15, and $30/$40 after. Children attend for free. There is a special student and Master Gardener rate (call for details).

Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, and prepare to walk short distances in forested terrain.  Parking, restrooms, coffee, refreshments, and drinking water are available on site.
