— from Donna Laslo for Orcas Island Film Festival –

The Orcas Island Film Festival invites you to bring your chair, blanket, and enjoy a movie night under the stars on Sunday, July 23 at dusk. The film will follow music in the park featuring JP & The OK Rhythm Boys.

“We are very excited to present the first ever movie night on the Village Green,” says OIFF co-director Donna Laslo. “Many have talked about it and it was time we just did it. It’s going to be a fun night, with popcorn, special treats, and beverages.” This screening is a part of a Summer Film Series that features a film each month leading up to the main festival which takes place October 6 -9, 2017.

“Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World” is a film from Canada that tells the story of a profound, essential, and, until now, missing chapter in the history of American music: the Indigenous influence. Featuring music icons Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and many others, “Rumble” will show how these talented Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives.

All proceeds and donations will benefit the Orcas Island Film Festival, October 6-9. Visit www.orcasfilmfest.com for more information
