The Board of Fire Commissioners will hold a special meeting this Thursday, March 24th at 5:30 p.m. for the purpose of interviewing, evaluating, and potentially appointing a candidate to fill the BOFC Seat #1 vacancy. This meeting will be held online via Zoom. Meeting access information is available in the attached Agenda.
You will find the current list of applicants on the agenda, with all received materials from each candidate attached within the board packet. Some private contact information, including references, has been redacted.
What will it matter? The board will pick who they want and they will not want our input.
I am so please to see some new energy come forward!
The Commission will have some sound choices to consider.. may they choose wisely and move forward.
Kate and Geoff both bring many talents to the table and represent the generations to come.

I read the candidates’ statements about what they would bring to the table, and their backgrounds. I was heartened to see that five people have stepped up to express interest and give their reasons as well as their skillsets May the commissioners choose wisely and remember that they DO also represent their tax base, who made a broad and unambiguous statement in the 2021 election. I would like the focus be on new ideas and solutions that build bridges and heal divisions and harms done, as well as prevent more harms. It’s time to heal – I hope these considerations are in the commissioners’ minds as they see the incredible opportunity they’ve been given. Clyde so deftly pointed this out.
