The Orcas Island Board of Fire Commissioners is seeking candidates to fill an unexpired term for Seat #4. The Board will conduct a public process to select a candidate to fill the seat by March 31st, 2023. The selected candidate will serve as an appointed commissioner on the board, with a public election taking place on the seat in the November 2023 General Election. At that time the publicly elected
commissioner will complete the remainder of the term through December 2025. Candidate filing week is May 15th to May 19th, 2023.
Interested candidates and members of the public are encouraged to attend the Board of Fire Commissioner meetings to learn more. Due to the holiday, the next regular Board of Fire Commissioners meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 1 p.m. online via Zoom and in person at the Eastsound Fire Station. Regular Board meetings are the 3rd Monday of each month at 1 p.m. Special meetings may also be held and will be announced on the website.
