Orcas Island Film Festival Presents an International 4-film mini-fest on June 23-24 at 7 and 9 p.m.
at the Sea View Theatre, featuring four incredible films from four countries. These films are fresh from the festival circuit and include early contenders for Oscar awards for next year.

6/23 @ 7:00pm: LANDLINE (USA) nominated for 2017 Sundance grand jury prize t his uproarious slice-of- life story is about two sisters and their dysfunctional Manhattan family in pre-cell-phone 1990s Manhattan who discover that their father is having an affair, and conspire to expose him.

6/23 @ 9:00pm: THE KINGS CHOICE (NORWAY) This dramatic wartime epic, shortlisted for the 2017 Best Foreign language Oscar®, is set over the course of three days in 1940, when the aging King of Norway is presented with an unimaginable ultimatum from the German army: Surrender or die!

6/24 @ 7:00pm: KILLS ON WHEELS (HUNGARY) Oscar submission for Hungary for 2017. This film is an engaging, disability-focused dramedy about two physically disabled young men who stumble into Budapest’s underbelly of gangsters and gunfights after they become involved with a wheelchair-bound hitman who seems to come straight out of a comic book in this inventive, action-packed coming-of-age fable.

6/24 @ 9:00pm: LADY MACBETH (UK) With 11 wins and 7 nominations from top festivals, based not on the famous Shakespeare character but is an adaptation of Russian writer Nikolai Leskov’s 1865 novella “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk,” where a 19th century young bride sold into marriage to a middle-aged man discovers an unstoppable desire within herself as she enters into an affair with a worker on her estate.
