Dana Lyons, appearing at the Doe Bay Café for a CD release party on New Year's Eve
World famous environmental songster Dana Lyons will rock in the New Year starting at 10 p.m. at the Doe Bay Café. The event will also be a release party for his new CD, “Three Legged Coyote.”
The evening kicks off with an exciting Pizza Night Open Mic led by Fabrice! Party favors, an open fire and free champagne at midnight, plus delicious pizza round out this free event.
Lyons’ “worldwide smash hit,” Cows With Guns,” was voted #1 For The Year on Dr. Demento, #2 on Australian Country Charts, and was
10 months on Seattle’s Top 40, and
6 months on Ireland’s Top 40.
Bob Rivers, of Twisted Tunes on station KZOK in Seattle, said, “Play Cows With Guns once and watch the phones explode.”
The Bellingham Weekly described Lyons as “A current-day Pete Seeger,” while Western Washington University’s paper, called him “An out-of-control Johnny Cash.”
Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society said, “Every movement has its minstrel. The unions had Woody Guthrie. The peace movement had Phil Ochs. The environmental movement has Dana Lyons.”
Other Lyons’ hits are “RV” and “Ride The Lawn.” His music style “includes a bit of everything;” his biggest radio hit, “Cows With Guns,” receives crossover radio play on country, rock, alternative, community, college.
