||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT |||

Please be advised that San Juan County health officials are still contacting all those individuals exposed to the COVID-19 cases recently discovered in our elementary school. They anticipate that they will wrap up the investigation and complete contact tracing by this evening.  We are also partnering with the county to  determine next steps for our district.

At this point in time COVID-19 is presenting a threat to the safety of our students, staff and community; in response we have made the decision to put public health and safety first. As of Monday, November 16th,  we will move to remote learning for Kindergarten through grades two and Montessori Public.

Remote learning will continue through mid-January of 2021. Camp Orkila days will be suspended until mid- January as well.

I’ll leave you with this quote from the writer and philosopher Joseph Campbell: “Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.”

Take care – wear masks and wash your hands.
