— from Tara Lee, Governor’s Office —
Following passage in the state House of HB 1843: “Fulfilling the state’s paramount duty for all children through equitable and responsible investments in the state’s basic education program and reductions to local effort contributions,” Governor Jay Inslee released the following statement:
“I appreciate the House passing their bill today and providing a thoughtful proposal for discussion as budget negotiations begin. Their approach will help us recruit and retain great teachers and close the opportunity gap. With leaders of both chambers recognizing the need for significant additional resources in our schools, budget negotiations are the necessary next step.”
