||| FROM DAN BURKE for EASTSOUND WATER |||
Eastsound Water is advising that water customers in the Doe Bay Water Users Association Service Area identified in the red circle below to boil their drinking water due to a main break that happened early afternoon on 5-15-2024. The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has been notified and Eastsound Water is working. closely with the Office of Drinking Water to fix the problem. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
“The repair was completed by the evening on May 15th and the system was brought back to full service by dinner time. Samples are on a plane to the lab today and when we get the results, we will work with the Department of Health to lift the notice. Safe and reliable drinking water is our highest priority and we will remain attentive until we are cleared of this repair,” said Dan Burke, General Manager of Eastsound Water.
The boil water advisory includes several precautionary steps for customers. These include using purchased bottled water or boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, dishwashing, preparing food, and making ice. Water should come to a rolling boil for one minute, then cool to an appropriate temperature before using.
The advisory will remain in effect until Eastsound Water and the Washington State Department of Health are confident that your water is safe. When satisfactory results are reported, customers will be notified that the advisory has been lifted.

Why weren’t we notified diectly and individually about this? By email or phone? I just happened to see a scrawled, hand-written sign on the side of the road as I drove by and decided to google it, landing me here. But that wasn’t until 2 days after this says the alert went into effect! I live in that area. There must be a more effective way to alert people!
Greetings all,
I wanted to update the affected Doe Bay water members that we are expecting lab results to arrive on Monday, and it all goes well, we hope to lift the Boil Notice on Monday evening.

Eastsound Water
Received the notice that our water on the Doe Bay side is fine after testing. Thank you for the efforts in recovery. I did forget several times and brushed my teeth and rinsed with tap water but all is well.

“No you’re not. You’ll be stone cold dead in a moment”.
