— from John van Lund —
Channel Road will be closed at the temporary bridge for placing girders beginning Dec 12, Monday morning, at 8:30 AM. There will be one closure per day for seven separate days beginning Dec 12 –Dec 16, and again Dec 19-20.
The planned closure will be from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Possibly as short as 20 minutes.
Reader or message boards are installed as a reminder. The remainder of Channel Rd and Deer Harbor Rd will remain open.
The pedestrian bridge will remain open for anyone leaving a car overnight with a neighbor on the other side.
Emergency services have been notified and have access via private roads. There is a helicopter landing site on Bob Connor’s property for emergency airlift.
Each girder is scheduled to leave Anacortes on the 5:30 AM ferry and may stop on the wide shoulder on Orcas Road just north of Gibb’s Road to allow traffic to pass.
Please note there will be no Sheriff escort as originally planned. They decided not to help out because of staffing issues.
If there are any changes, we will send out an email alert first thing in the morning. Thanks for your patience.
