— from John A. Van Lund, Public Works —

DHBridgeAt long last construction of the Deer Harbor Bridge Replacement will begin on Monday, July 18, 2016.  We anticipate construction to be complete by December 2016.

Initially, RAZZ Construction, Inc. expects to work five days a week, Monday – Friday, because crews will be coming over on the ferry until living accommodations are found.

[This] is the first Deer Harbor Weekly Newsletter which will be distributed, hopefully weekly, describing the upcoming construction activities so that you are informed.  Please feel free to post or share the Newsletter.

A single point of contact has been established with homeowners’ associations west of the bridge, abutting landowners, marinas, sheriff, Orcas fire, and various news media.

It is my understanding that an approved NW Airlift helicopter landing site will be located on Meg and Bob Connor’s property for emergency air evacuation.

The first item of work will be the construction of a single lane detour north of the existing bridge.  There will also be a separate pedestrian bridge.

We appreciate your patience during construction, thank you for your help, and will keep you informed.
