Any replacement or repair work will be scheduled and prioritized based on available budget resources

This week, the County’s Public Works Department was notified that the electric vehicle (EV) chargers at the Orcas Island Park & Ride had been damaged. To protect public safety and prevent further damage, the chargers have been removed from service.

The County is now assessing the best path forward – whether for replacement or possible relocation to protect future chargers from damage and misuse. Any replacement or repair work will be scheduled and prioritized based on available budget resources. EV chargers on Orcas Island

Background

The EV chargers were installed at the Orcas Island Park & Ride in 2018 as a pilot project proving free charging access for commuters, residents, and visitors traveling through Orcas Landing and the Washington State Ferries terminal.

The County recognizes the value of this infrastructure to the community and will carefully consider its future as part of the evaluation process.
